Free insurance commission tracking template

Type the agency name, the statement month, and how many carriers and producers the agency has. The page builds an Excel workbook for tracking that month: one row per carrier for its statement total and payment, one row per producer, a book of business sheet, a commission log, and an instructions sheet.

The workbook is built in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded.

A blank month of commission tracking, sized to your agency.

What the workbook will hold

The workbook is a layout to fill in. It holds values only and has no formulas, so it does not calculate. Once it is filled in, the commission summary by carrier opens it and ties each carrier's lines to its statement total, the expected-versus-paid reconciler reads its Book of business and Commission log sheets, and the producer split calculator divides the Commission log among producers.

How it works

  1. Answer four questions. Type the agency name, the statement month, the number of carriers, and the number of producers. The name and the month can be left blank; the two counts set how many numbered rows the Carriers and Producers sheets start with.
  2. Build the workbook. The Excel file is put together in the browser, read back to confirm its sheets, header rows, and row counts, and downloaded. There is no sign-up and no limit.
  3. Fill it in during the month. As each carrier statement arrives, type its total and the payment received on the Carriers sheet and its lines on the Commission log, with the carrier named on every row. The Book of business sheet holds what each policy is expected to pay.
  4. Calculate with the tools. The template does not calculate. The commission summary by carrier, the expected-versus-paid reconciler, and the producer split calculator open the filled-in workbook, read the sheet each one needs, and show their checks.

Worked example

For a made-up agency, Example Agency LLC, with 12 carriers and 4 producers, tracking February 2026, the workbook has these sheets.

The Month sheet arrives with Example Agency LLC and 2026-02 already filled in. The Carriers sheet has rows numbered 1 to 12 and the Producers sheet rows numbered 1 to 4, all blank. The file downloads as commission-tracking-template-example-agency-llc-2026-02.xlsx.

The example uses made-up names and numbers.

Questions

Does the template add up the commissions or work out the splits?

No. It is a clean layout with values only and no formulas. The commission tools on this site do the calculating: the summary by carrier adds the Commission log up by carrier and line of business and compares each carrier with its statement total, the reconciler compares the log with the Book of business, and the split calculator divides each line among producers.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit on how many templates are built.

Why one workbook per month?

Each carrier's statement total and payment belong to one month, so a month is what can be tied out. Build a new workbook for each month; the agency name and the two counts are the only things typed again.

Can rows be added later?

Yes. Rows can be added under the last one on any sheet. The two counts asked for here only set how many numbered rows the Carriers and Producers sheets start with, and rows left blank are skipped when a sheet is opened in a tool.

Which carriers or agency systems does it work with?

None in particular. The columns are generic: carrier, insured name, line of business, premium, rate, and commission, plus the number that identifies each policy. Rows are typed in, or copied in from whatever the agency's own system produces.

This tool calculates and checks numbers. It is not legal, tax, or medical advice.
