Marketplace payment CSV to monthly books
Open the payment account or ledger export from your marketplace. You choose which column is which and what each row type counts as: sales, shipping, tax collected, fees, refunds, adjustments, or deposits to your bank. The tool totals each month by type, lists fees by fee type, builds a journal-entry style table where debits equal credits, and proves every row was counted exactly once.
The file is read in your browser and stays on this device. Nothing is uploaded, and the tool never signs in to a marketplace.
Or paste the rows, with the header row first:
The rows are read in this browser and are not uploaded.
These are matched from the header words. Export layouts differ and change, so check them and change any that are wrong.
Each row type found in the file starts with a guess. Change any that are wrong. A type set to adjustments is still counted; nothing is left out.
When both are typed, opening balance plus every row is checked against the closing balance.
By month
Fees by type
Journal entry for each month
Account names are starting labels. The entry shows how the month's figures balance; it does not say how anything belongs in your books.
This tool is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Etsy, Shopify, Amazon, eBay, or any other marketplace. Marketplace names are used only to describe the exports people bring to it.
What gets checked
- For each month: sales plus shipping plus tax collected, minus fees and refunds, plus or minus adjustments, equals net activity, re-added from the rows a second way.
- For each month: net activity minus payouts equals the change in the balance held by the marketplace.
- Type totals for all months re-add to the total of every row in the file, so each row is counted exactly once.
- Fees by fee type add up to total fees, for each month and in total.
- Each month's journal entry balances: debits equal credits.
- When the file has a net column, every row ties: amount plus fees equals net.
- When opening and closing balances are typed, opening balance plus every row equals the closing balance.
- Every row with data was read. A row that could not be read is listed with the reason and the result is marked not verified.
How it works
- Open the export. Drop the .csv or .xlsx payment account or ledger export from the marketplace, or paste its rows with the header row first. It is read in the browser.
- Check the columns. Date, row type, title or description, amount, fees, and net are matched from the header words. Layouts differ between marketplaces and change over time, so every choice can be changed, including whether fees are written as negative numbers or as positive numbers to subtract.
- Say what each row type counts as. Each row type found in the file starts with a guess (sales, shipping, tax collected, fees, refunds, adjustments, or payouts) that can be changed. A type the tool does not recognize is counted as an adjustment; no row is left out.
- Summarize and download. Each month is totaled by type, fees are broken out by fee type, and a journal-entry style table is built for each month. Download Excel or CSV with the certificate, or print.
Worked example
A made-up export for March and April 2026. Blank amounts are written as dashes, fees are negative numbers, and the two deposit rows give their amount in the title.

March: sales $100.00 + shipping $5.00 + tax collected $3.20 − fees $11.78 − refunds $10.00 + adjustments $0.65 = net activity $87.07; payouts $84.07; change in balance $3.00. March fees by type: fees on sale rows $3.00, listing ads $4.10, processing fee $1.75, transaction fee $2.93. April: sales $25.00 − fees $2.63 = net activity $22.37; payouts $25.37; change in balance -$3.00. Both months together change the balance by $0.00, the total of all 14 rows. The March journal entry has debits and credits of $108.85 each and April $28.00 each.

Questions
Which marketplace exports does it read?
Any .csv or .xlsx with a header row and columns for date, row type, and amount. The tool does not claim to know any marketplace's layout, because layouts differ and change: it matches header words, shows its choices, and every column and row type can be changed. When a column cannot be identified, the page says which one and links to a form for requesting support for that format.
How does it decide what a row type counts as?
It starts from generic words in the type text (for example fee, tax, deposit) and shows the guess for each type found in the file. The guess is only a starting point. Changing a type's category recalculates everything.
Where do fee types come from?
For a fee row, the fee type is the text before the first colon in its title, or the row type when there is no title. An amount in the fees column of another kind of row is reported as fees on that kind of row.
Does the journal entry tell me how to book my sales?
No. It is a table showing how the month's figures balance, with a starting label on each line. How the figures belong in a particular set of books is a decision for the seller or their accountant.
Is this tool connected to Etsy or another marketplace?
No. It is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Etsy, Shopify, Amazon, eBay, or any other marketplace. It never signs in to a store; it only reads the file you open, in your browser.
This tool calculates and checks numbers. It is not legal, tax, or medical advice.
